Children’s Counseling
The Children’s Counseling program provides support through individual therapy sessions to child survivors, as well as children’s group counseling and support for parents.
This program provides therapeutic support for children who have gone through difficult situations and trauma related to domestic violence in the home. Therapy gives them a safe and confidential environment to process what they have experienced or are experiencing, in the company of a trained professional who can help them talk through what they are feeling. Children are offered the space to understand and make sense of big emotions and to build coping skills.
Individual child counseling sessions and children’s group sessions are both available. Parents also benefit from this program through individual support and groups when available.
Child survivors and parents who are receiving services from WC&S can participate in the program. A child can be referred to the Children’s Counseling program by any WC&S staff member. A parent who is interested for their child can also contact the Hotline to learn more.
