Education in Schools
The Education in Schools program brings Teen Dating Violence (TDV) Awareness to students and school programs and clubs, through training and presentations on domestic violence (DV) and violence prevention.
The Education in Schools program offers group training and presentations, tailored to youth, regarding domestic violence (DV) and teen dating violence (TDV). The training helps young people identify potential abusive behaviors in their own relationships, the relationships of friends, and family relationships.
Topics include:
- What DV is and how it affects individuals and families
- Signs of potentially abusive and controlling relationships
- Why is important to interrupt the cycle of violence
- Ways that peers, adults, and professionals can help
Each training is led by an Educational Facilitator with expertise in DV. Facilitators initiate class participation by asking thoughtful questions, giving real life examples, and asking for any stories the students may want to share.
Education in Schools is available to schools and to youth programs. To find out about receiving training for your school, class, or group, please email schoolsteam@wcspittsburgh.org.
