Thank you for your outstanding support during #GivingTuesday 2021!
Thank you for donating to Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh on November 30th, 2021 during #GivingTuesdaygl, a day celebrated around the world dedicated to giving back. We are thrilled to announce that 430 donors gave over $85,000 to support survivors of domestic violence and their children. And thanks to a generous matching grant from Michele and Todd Dominick, the first $10,000 raised was matched dollar for dollar!
Thank you for giving survivors the gift of safety in their journey towards healing.
Your gifts make a huge impact.
Domestic violence has increased in both frequency and severity. Your donations provide healing and hope to those who need it most.
The COVID-19 pandemic has been severely affecting the survivors we serve for nearly two years. These compounding effects – job loss, food insecurity, illness, and isolation from friends and family – further exacerbate the hardship of those experiencing domestic violence. Many survivors have even found it difficult to contact programs like WC&S for help during the pandemic because they are at home, under the constant surveillance of their abusers. Despite these obstacles, survivors are still reaching out to connect with WC&S to explore futures free from abuse.
Survivors are striving for safety. They are hopeful for the future. They dream of a day when they will know peace. Your donations provide help.
You are the power behind our work. We are able to serve more than 7,500 survivors a year because you take the time to care...and give so generously. Your gifts help us to reach these survivors – even when the future is unpredictable.
Thanks to your support, we will continue to respond to the changing needs of those affected by DV. Perhaps the best way to describe the impact of your gift is through the words of survivors:
“I’m doing things in my life now I never dared to dream. WC&S has been a big help to me.”
“WC&S was really supportive & understanding. The staff helped my family to feel secure. They helped me move forward even when I felt broken. I have hope for the future.”
Thank you for making a life-changing difference in the journeys of survivors of domestic violence and their children!
GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
