Domestic violence can happen to anyone in any relationship. At WC&S, we offer a safe environment for anyone in an LGBTQ+ abusive relationship who is seeking help. No one is turned away because of whom they choose to love; no one is judged.
Abuse in LGBTQIA+ relationships happens at the same rate as in cisgender, heterosexual relationships and is just as damaging and hurtful. In fact, in some cases, LGBTQIA+ individuals experience DV at even higher rates than others. But in these relationships, there are often extra obstacles when seeking help.
Support groups and confidential individual counseling are free of cost.
Our offsite support groups allow LGBTQIA+ survivors to come together in an accessible, inviting space to relate to one another and work together through the challenges they face. The LGBTQIA+ Advocate is also able to meet for counseling over the phone, offsite at safe locations, and onsite at WC&S.
If you have questions or would like more information, please contact us at LGBTQIA@wcspittsburgh.org.
You are welcome here. At WC&S, all survivors can find help. We recognize that men, LGBTQIA+ people, and non-binary/gender non-conforming individuals can be survivors of intimate partner violence. We will not turn anyone away based on gender, sexual identity, race, ethnicity, religion, age, ability, language spoken, or any other factor. We welcome you as you are.
