Annual Holiday Gift Card Drive
Imagine: You and your children are spending the holidays in a domestic violence shelter, having left all your possessions behind in your search for safety.
Or perhaps you are now living on your own but still struggling from the effects of financial abuse.
Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh (WC&S) is excited to launch the 2024 Adopt-a-Family program, our annual holiday gift card drive that gives WC&S clients the opportunity to purchase holiday gifts for their children. Last year, donors provided a more joyful holiday season to nearly 1,000 survivors of domestic violence and their children. As our programs and services keep expanding, so too does the need for help during the holidays.
Now more than ever, we need your help to make the holidays brighter for a family affected by domestic violence. WC&S serves more than 7,500 individuals annually and almost all of them have been subjected to financial abuse. With the holidays fast approaching, they need your help.
Why gift cards? It may seem impersonal, but your donation of Target, Wal-Mart, or Visa gift cards is deeply meaningful to the hundreds of mothers who have been made to feel powerless by their abusers. When you give them the chance to shop and select the perfect gift for their own child, you are helping them regain their sense of control and freedom.
The Adopt-a-Family program will be accepting gift cards until December 11, 2024.

If you’re interested in hosting a virtual gift card collection drive in your work office or among friends, please submit a community fundraiser proposal.
